Della Berdell Lewis is a graduate of National Louis University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education/Behavioral Sciences and Concordia University with a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. She has served the Chicago Public Schools for over thirty years as a School Clerk, Business Manager, Teacher, Administrator in the Office of Teacher Accountabiity, and Assistant Principal. Della considers herself a powerful force in the classroom and uses her positive attitude and tireless energy to encourage others to work hard and succeed. Currently, she is a Teacher Leader at Little Village Elementary and a Teacher Mentor to Pre-Service Teachers at National Louis University and Illinois State University. Additionally, Della is an active member of the Chicago Teachers Union as Union Delegate at her current school location and District Organizer to westside schools.

 

Della is inspired daily by her four adult children (William, Shirlee, Anthony, Michelle) and ten grandchildren (Myla, Jeremy, John, Iyana, Olivia, William Jr., Nia, Mari, Grace, Glory).  She enjoys reading a good book, gardening, and traveling abroad (Turkey, Germany, Switzerland, Okinawa, China, Hawaii).  Freedom Baptist Church in Hillside, Illinois has been her place of worship for many years and Della remains a proud resident of the Austin community.
